Orville by Gibson J-200

Now here’s something you don’t see everyday…

Orville by Gibson guitars were produced under the watchful eye of Gibson in Japan in the 80’s and 90’s for the music retailer Yamano Gakki. These guitars were sold for the domestic Japanese market, as an attempt to try and combat the highly popular and successful copy market. They were never exported out of Japan and have gained a cult following; with good reason too as they are incredible instruments that could rival any American built Gibson.

A full range of acoustic guitars were also available with an ObG badge, these were built at the Terada factory in Japan, revered for the construction of Acoustic and Semi Acoustic instruments.

The J-200 is the pinnacle of Super Jumbos, and has always sat at the top of the Gibson catalog. A stunning instrument put together with premium materials, beautifully embellished with lovely touches such as crown inlays and the famous flower adorned scratchplate.

These really don’t show up that often, and even less so in such good condition. A proper gem.
