Tomson D-38

A killer vintage Japanese acoustic from Tomson!

Coming out of the Kiso Suzuki factory in the 70’s were the quality was superb as were the Luthiers that worked there. The Suzuki Violin company was established in 1887 however they didn’t start building guitars until the early 50’s. It frustrates us when people describe these old acoustic’s as ‘cheap’ and ‘poor imitations’. This is frankly unfair and not at all true. These guitars are extremely well put together by craftsmen that had been making musical instruments for decades!  And oh man do they sound and play lovely, especially when they’ve existed for such a long time and seen there fair share of playing!

  • Spruce Laminate top
  • Mahogany sides
  • Mahogany/Maple/Mahogany back (all laminate but very pretty)
  • Nato neck
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • 20 frets
  • Dark Rosewood bridge
  • Abalone bound body
  • Bound neck
  • Original case (seen better days)

Our old Tomson is in great shape! Freshly restrung with a set of D’Addario Phosphor Bronze Custom Lights and ready to go!
