Description

The Epiphone Century E422J, crafted in 1959 at the renowned Kalamazoo factory, reflects a rich history rooted in American guitar manufacturing. Originally introduced in the late 1930s, the Century model evolved through the decades, becoming a favorite for jazz, blues, and early rock guitarists. By the 1950s, Epiphone was owned by Gibson, and the Century E422J was produced alongside some of Gibson’s most famous models at the renowned Kalamazoo factory. This particular model features a pressed archtop body, which was more affordable than carved tops but retained great resonance and projection, making it highly popular among working musicians of the era. The Century was somewhat slept on for many years till James Bay popularised it with his use of a 1966 Model.

The guitar’s original P-90 pickup, known for its warm and punchy single-coil sound, makes it perfect for those who want vintage tone with character. The 42mm bone nut, mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard ensure a comfortable and reliable playing experience, with a 25.5″ scale and 16″ lower bout providing excellent playability and sound projection. Adorned with the famous “bikini” Epiphone logo on the headstock, a design that was a hallmark of late-1950s Epiphones, this guitar is strung with D’Addario 11-52 strings, combining modern reliability with the classic tones and aesthetics of one of Epiphone’s iconic models.

Comes with Hardcase
