Highly collectible Custom Shop J-185 – finished in natural. This is a super-rare Custom-built model (potentially the only one as having searched for hours, we can’t find any mention of another one anywhere on the internet!). It appears to be similar to the latest 1952 reissue J-185 that retails at £5k, but with an even higher spec (upgraded woods, Ebony fingerboard/bridge as opposed to Rosewood, and fancier Abalone inlays as opposed to Mother of Pearl).
It is in exceptional condition with no notable blemishes and just some slight discolouration to the frets (if being very picky). Certainly a guitar that will appeal to both collectors and players.
The J-185 was designed to be slightly smaller and more comfortable than the SJ-200 whilst retaining a lot of the legendary styling tips from its bigger relative. The highlight is certainly the Flame Maple back and sides which are absolutely outstanding on this guitar – and twinned with the Sitka Spice top provide a solid tonal platform, singing loud and clear. It has a comfortable (moderately slim profile) neck which is perfect for both chords and fingerstyle playing, split inlays, Custom shop headstock decal and gold vintage-style tuners.
It comes complete with its original Gibson hardshell case to keep it protected and the paperwork pictured (including its original sales receipt). Don’t miss out on the opportunity to pick up this sensational and rare guitar – you will likely not have the change again.
